A Long Winded Post. Sorry....

It will be 7 years tomorrow that David and I had our first date. Wow. That’s a long time! Let’s see if I can remember the events.

I was working for the Inn America in Nampa.( It’s been renamed now. I had been there for about 5 months and became friends with the assistant manager. One day she asked if I wanted to meet someone. I said sure but someone walked in and notices a “mark” on my neck so she thought I was seeing someone and left the subject alone. A couple of weeks later she asked again, forgetting the events before. I said sure. A free meal, what could it hurt. Wasn’t too excited though. It was about a year past my divorce and had also just ended a long distance relationship that hurt me. So I wasn’t super duper in to seeing anyone. She gave him my number. He didn’t call. I was used to this so wasn’t upset. She asked me everyday for almost a week if he had called. (he worked with her husband). I said no. So finally one day after work we decide we are going to call him. We go to the phone in the lobby, in front of every one, and she calls the shop where they work and asks for him. Then gives me the phone. I’m mortified but laughing at the same time. We talk for a few minutes and then make a date. I think there were a few days in between. Can’t remember THAT much detail! I suggest the Mexican restaurant. I think it was casa Mexico then or it was Monterey’s little Mexico. It’s changed names several times. I get there first. We don’t know what each other looks like. I just know he has dark hair, glasses and was going to wear a brown leather jacket. And he drove a black truck with a snowmobile in the back. So I sit and wait. Finally a guy walks in looking lost. Some how we figured out who each other is. We sit there. He talks and tells stories. He makes me laugh. A good thing. I think he’s nice and if he calls again, I’ll go out with him, if not I won’t cry about it. I was used to not getting called back. After dinner we decided to see a movie. I make him drive. It involved turning left across the Blvd. we jet up to Edwards. Oh! He had his black diesel at the time and it was like 9 feet in the air so I had to gracefully climb in. An event in itself. At the theatre the only movie playing at the time we were there was Monsters Inc. So we saw that! He took me back to the restaurant where we left my little car. I head my way he heads his. I hoped to hear from him since he seemed nice. Well I did hear from him again! He called at some point not too long after and I ask him to go to my Christmas party with me. We went to that then a movie since it ended kind of early. He told me I looked pretty. Damn right I did! I even wore make up and I am allergic to it! Now the 3rd date is interesting. I got home from work and there was a message (I live with my parents at the time had just moved back home that July). It was David asking me to his Christmas event. He worked for Meineke at the time and the owner would bus all the Meineke workers and a guest in the Boise, Nampa, Caldwell area to Jack Pot and pay for a night at one of the hotels. Plus food and a show. Yea ,I know, cool! It’s a little town just over the border in Nevada. So lots of gambling. I hear the message and think I don’t know him but my gut says GO!! So I look at the clock. They leave at 3:00. It’s like 2:00. So I throw some clothes in a bag, leave a note for my parents and race to Boise. I’m in Homedale. Like an hour away. I hate the free way. I take the free way. I broke several traffic laws. I whip in to the parking lot as they were just getting ready to load. Now being on a buss meant lots of drinking. Lots. He brought Bud Light for me. I don’t care for beer but drank it anyway. After 3 they went down like water. J Are we seeing a new side to Erin?? It’s like a 2 hour drive and we played bingo and watched movies. By the time we get there I can barely walk. He’d had a few too. Now we still don’t know each other that well. So it’s interesting. We had to share a room since I was his guest. There were 2 beds and we did sleep separately. I think we slept it off until Dinner. We staid at a Cactus Pete’s. They had a great buffet. We gambled a bit. He showed me how to play Roulette Not much to it. I put my chips down and they took them. I’m a slot machine person. He was nice enough to give me a few dollars. It was a quiet bus ride home since most are hung over and were up all night going broke. In the coming days we spent more time together. I helped him shop for his sister. Then he asked me what I wanted. I hadn’t planned on getting him anything since we’d just met a couple of weeks prior and didn’t know each other that well. He had his sister help him shop for me. He did well. Got me a nice purple sweater. I still have it. It doesn’t fit any more. Maybe one day. He also go me two candles. Still have them as well. I either got him cologne or a wallet he said he wanted. I can’t remember. I’m getting one mixed up with our first Valentines day. Some how it ended up we met each others family on Christmas Eve. It was spur of the moment. He met my WHOLE family at my Grandma and Grandpa’s. Talk about ripping the band aide off! My mom said he was cute. Everyone got a Galileo thermometer, they gave him the one that was supposed to go to my dad so he would have something. We then went to his parents. I guess he was getting even! LOL! His mom some how managed to have a gift for me to open. It was a snowman decoration. I collect snowmen. When I later told the friend who fixed us up I met his parents. She said I was a done deal. He doesn’t take just anyone over. When I first walked into his mom’s living room in their old house (she had an old Victorian house) I saw the stairs and thought it would be so pretty to walk down them in a wedding dress. 3 years later, I did.

Ok so I went a bit past our first date. Sorry so long winded. Just got started and couldn’t stop.
