Knowledge is Power.

Knowledge is power. I agree. The more you know, the better you are. Knowledge is great. However sometimes you need to have motivation, action behind some of that knowledge. I need to lose weight. This i know. I know how to go about losing the weight. I research it all the time. I have the knowledge, I just lack the action. Motivation. Seems like I have had  this battles since pubertty hit me like a ton of bricks. I not only want to win the battle, I want to win the war. Activity. Activity is my problem. The lack thereof. I sit behind a desk for 8 hours a day. Makes for a pretty big butt. I don't eat terrible. Could make a few better choices but still not terrible. I don't believ in eating in any crazy way. Cutting out this or that. Maybe reduce the sugar. I like my sugar. I believ in eating from the food groups. Eating real foods, not the processed stuff that's labeld as food or diet foods. The tough part is doing it. The processed stuff is cheaper, while the good for you stuff is expensive. I do what i can with what i have and what i can get. I also don't believe calories are the enemy. We are so scared of calories anymore. Our bodies NEED a certain amount of calories to perform normal bodily functions. The average woman depending on age and activity level should consume 1600-2400 calories a day. See here. Don't be scared of calories, but be aware of what you are consuming. Watch portion sizes. Activity. That's my big problem. Sit for 8 hours then go home and sit. Summer is easier since it's daylight longer, we have a garden that needs watered and weeded. Kids need chased with a hose. This week i started walking 30-45 minutes in the evening after the kids go to bed. Also trying to walk at least one of my 15 minute breaks at work. Walking. Easy. Free. Fresh Air. Quiet. Thinking Time. No Kids. Me Time. We do have a gym membership. We haven't gone in ages but we have it. It doesn't seem right to work out in a stuffy gym when you can have fresh air and it's daylight til 10:00pm. Gym can wait until Fall. Running. I have always wanted to start running. Always been intimidated, scared maybe. I Googled "How to start running" and a site came up. It listed this run walk program. Week 1 - walk 6 minutes, run 1 minute, do in intervals. Sounds doable. I can run 1 minute right? We'll see next week when I take on Week 1.
